  • Single Engine Piston (SEP)
  • Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS)
  • Night VFR
  • Variable Pitch (VP)

The Program

The practical training can be done in English.

Before passing the EASA pratical examination, you must have at least 45 hours of flying.

All those flights are always supervised by the Flight Instructor (FI). Typically after 10 to 15 hours in dual command, you will master enough to be able to fly a small single engine plane: the time for your first supervised solo flight! A big step, very emotional.

In those minimum 45 hours of flying, you need to have at least:

  • At least 25 hours in dual-command
  • At least 10 hours of supervized solo flight
  • At least 5 hours of cross-country navigation in solo flight (landing in another airfield than Spa and back)
  • A solo flight on at least 270 km and landing in two different airfields

School Registration

If you are interested to attend the training (theory in French, practical in French or English), then feel free to contact us by email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for further information and/or arrange for a meeting with the instructors.

Theoretical and practical trainings do not have to be synchronized. However, the theory test is required to be able to pass the practical ‘skills’ test.

Requirements to start practical training

  • Be a member of RAPCS (membership fee: 70 € + flying membership fee : 185 €)

  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Minors must have a written authorization from their legal representative pledged by a legalised signature (City Hall).

The practical training with the instructor can then begin in dual command.

In order to fly solo, the student pilot must have a valid medical certificate (class 1 or class 2).

Student pilot licence

Since the 8th of April 2013, the student pilot licence is no more required; student pilots, who registered after this date, fly under the school responsibility with their medical certificates, their flight logs plus a valid identity document (such as a Belgian identity card).

Requirement to begin the theory training

  • Be a member of RAPCS with paid membership.
  • Attend the lectures of the annual session that begin in September and happen every Sunday morning.
  • Pay the course fee.

Medical examination

More information and the form to request a medical examination are on the link of the DGTA EXAMEN MEDICAL.

Information and forms are also available on the site of Doctor AME Eric Schmitz: Aerodoc

The Royal Aero Paraclub Spa has enough human resources (5 flight instructors and 5 ground instructors) and aircrafts (8 in total including 5 dedicated to training) to ensure training of student pilots.

This training leads to Private Pilot License (PPL) regulated by the official European aviation authority (Part-FCL).

Getting the Part-FCL license at Spa requires theorical training of 145 hours spread over one year, and practical training of at least 45 hours of flight under the responsibility of a flight instructor. Both parts have to be certified by a national examination.

The program

The theoretical training is totally agreed by the DGTA which is the General Directorate for Air Transport in Belgium.

The course is given in French only and is composed of five parts:

  • Technique 12 lessons + 1 revision
  • Meteorological 10 lessons + 1 revision
  • Navigation 9 lessons + 1 revision
  • Air rules 6 lessons + 1 revision
  • Human Performances and Limits 3 lessons + 1 revision

Those courses are given by our instructors every Sunday morning in our classroom in Spa.

The quality of this formation is incredible. It's a serious and professional training by passionnated instructors and every one has to be aware of it.
