La Gileppe lake:

The dam takes its name from the La Gileppe river, the Hautes-Fagnes river, a tributary of the Vesdre. The dam is a hydraulic dam, inaugurated in 1878 by King Leopold II and well known for its monumental statue representing a lion. It was built at the request of Verviers wool producers who wanted to have enough pure water for their textile industries. The wall of the Gileppe dam is one of the oldest in Europe. The prime contractor was the engineer from Liège Eugène Bidaut (1808–1868). The capacity of the lake is 25 million cubic meters.

The Vesdre dam or Eupen lake is the third reservoir for drinking water in Belgium. Its waters come from the Hautes Fagnes plateau. It is supplied by the Vesdre, the Getz, and via a 1.5 km long tunnel by the Helle. It currently supplies 55,000 m3 of drinking water daily to the Eupen, Spa and Seraing regions.

The Fagnes:

These are vast extents (4,500 ha in Belgium) of peat bogs, moors and forests which have a rather exceptional flora and fauna linked to the cold and humid climate. The peat bogs formed 7,500 years ago, at the end of the last glaciation. The Signal de Botrange (694 meters) is the summit of Belgium.

The Butgenbach dam was built in 1932. Its main function is to regulate the course of the Warche but also so that the industries of Malmedy (tanneries and paper mills) always have enough water. It constitutes, with its reservoir, one of the leading tourist poles of the Hautes Fagnes and the Belgian Eiffel.
